HISTORY   MASTER ECONOMY

         The Economics Masters Study Program was established with the background of the issuance of a permit from the Director General of Higher Education regarding the opening of the Economics Doctoral Program (S3) license in 2000 and the Development Economics Study Program (S1) had been running since 1985. Under these conditions, it was deemed necessary to open a Master’s Study Program in Economics (S2) to meet the needs at the strata two levels. The Council Meeting of the Development Economics Department gave the mandate to the Head of the Department, Prof. Dr. Titik Sartika Partomo, MS to form a Study Team for the Establishment of the Masters in Economics Study Program. The study team on feasibility study underwent several changes including the team from Lukman Hakim, SE, M.Sc., then the team from Drs. Pulo Siahaan, MSc.
In 2006, the team consisting of Prof. Dr. Tiktik, S. Partomo, Eleonora Sofilda, SE, M. Si, and Dr. Muhammad Zilal Hamzah, MM succeeded in declaring the program’s opening with the issuance of a Higher Education Permit Number: 1970/D/T/2006 dated June 16, 2006. Based on this permit, the first curriculum was used, namely the Concentration of Urban/Regional Planning Economics and the Concentration of State/Regional Finance. The teaching and learning process activities began in September 2006 with the Chief Executive Dr. Muhammad Zilal Hamzah and Secretary Dr. Eleonora Sofilda, SE, M.Sc.
From 2007 to 2010, the Head of the Study Program was appointed: Prof. Dr. Titik Sartika, MS with the Secretary of the Study Program Drs. Mulyadi, M. Si and, in 2012 Prof. Dr. Tiktik, MS was replaced by Prof. Dr. Victor Siagian, MS with the Secretary of Study Program Drs. Mulyadi, M.Sc. At the end of his term in 2012, Prof. Dr. Titik Sartika Partomo, MS. who was later replaced by Prof. Dr. Victor Siagian, MS. Accreditation B has been obtained from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) with Decree Number: 033/BAN-PT/AK-IX/S2/I/2012 dated 13 January 2012. From 2012 to 2014 a new Secretary of Study Program was appointed Rinaldi Rustam, S.E, M.E for refreshment. But in 2014, Rinaldi Rustam was replaced by Dr. Eleonora Sofilda, M.Sc., and from 2014 to 2020. In 2017, the Master of Economics Study Program under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Victor Siagian, MS and Dr. Eleonora Sofilda, M. Si succeeded in obtaining Accreditation A based on the Decree of BAN-PT, No 1376/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/M/V/2017.
On April 1, 2020, following SKR No. 0233/USAKTI/SKR/BASDM/DT/V/2020, there has been a change in the leadership of the Master’s Program in Economics; The Head of the Economics Masters Study Program is under the leadership of Dr. Rinaldi Rustam, ME assisted by the Study Program Secretary Dr. Dini Hariyanti, ME.
The curriculum for the 2007/2008 Academic Year has started to be competency-based. The main core of the curriculum is Financial Economics with a Concentration in State/Regional Financial Economics; Financial Economics Banking and Capital Markets, as well as the Islamic Economics and Finance Concentration spearheaded by Prof. Sofyan Syafri Harahap. The Master of Economics Study Program has developed quite a rapid curriculum, with the development of existing concentrations to more than 4, one of the most recent being the Public Policy Concentration, the Sustainability Economics Concentration and the Retail Economics Concentration. Since 2015 the curriculum used by the Master of Economics Study Program has been based on the IQF.

         In line with government policy, namely curriculum changes in 4 years, in 2019 there will be changes to the Master of Economics curriculum using the Outcome Based Education(OBE) approach.
Currently, there are 868 alumni with competencies according to their expertise, such as experts in the field of finance, both conventional and Sharia-based corporate or public finance, as economists in government and various other private institutions with professionalism who are able to evaluate, provide solutions , projecting economic conditions with a multidisciplinary approach, as well as publishing them in media that have national and international reputations. Graduates of the Master of Science Program are able to communicate and work together, have ethics, have a noble character and can be given responsibility for the achievement of organizational work, are able to innovate.
